President's Message
Dr. Joe Kucera(Lorena ISD) President for 2025 - 2027
September 4, 2025
It is truly an honor to serve as the President of the Texas Association of Midsize Schools (TAMS). I was inducted as President in January of 2025 and I have been a board member within this organization for the past ten years. We are fortunate to have a working partnership with the Texas Association of Rural Schools (TARS), Texas Rural Education Association (TREA), Texas Association of Community Schools (TACS), and the Equity Center. We will work to strengthen these partnerships for the health of our membership and public education for all students. Our membership will not lose sight of our original mission, which is to protect and expand the midsize allotment. For the first time since the inception of TAMS, we were able to secure an increase to the midsize allotment for our TAMS districts through HB 2. This was a HUGE win for our organization and deserves celebration! TAMS and all of our partners will continue to work together for the betterment of public education for all students.
I look forward to working with the TAMS Officers, Board, Executive Director, Greg Gibson, Assistant Executive Director, Jodi Duron and Executive Assistant, Missy Dvorak. These individuals work tirelessly to ensure our mission is carried out each day. As our board members are busy running their district, we are blessed to have an amazing team leading our organization and protecting our interests. They do an exceptional job of keeping us informed and calling our membership to action when most appropriate. I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve and I am excited to be the TAMS President.
Joe Kucera, Ed.D.
Lorena ISD Superintendent and TAMS President
